Walk from Wokingham to Binfield (and back)

Great news - Summer's season is over for this time! I have felt as a prisoner myself. To celebrate that we had a great long walk just near to our home. Victoria was willing to come with me when I agreed to go wherever she wants to go. Once she's out of the house, she enjoys it, but to get her out is a big struggle. So we left Maurice who was poorly with dad. (I shouldn't have done it really and have now stayed indoors with Maurice for two days - poor Summer). The weather has really warmed up. Although it was cloudy, it was 12 degrees. You could feel the spring in the air.
Summer is waiting for a go ahead on a bridge over the motorway. This side it's Wokingham, full of houses built tightly next to each other. But when you cross it, it's like entering to Narnia, a paradise. I am such a country girl, although I've never lived in a countryside. There is a little forest with deer. You can see them eating on the field quite often. They must be quite clever, cause every time I have the camera with me, they are hiding only coming out when I don't have it with me. I am determined to catch them with my lense one day. So we are surrounded by fields, stables the countryside that is breathtaking. For me at least:)

As I have already put up loads of pics of horses, this time it's Alpaca's turn. Isn't he cute? There is also a free range chicken farm and my favourite tack shop. This walk carries on along the bridle ways. I can't wait to ride there myself one day. Is it a too big of a dream? When walking, we met two riders with massive 17h horses. It just takes my breath away. And I wish I could train Summer enough so that one day when I can ride, I could take her with me to run next to me. The only problem is her love for the sticks. I can imagine me on a horse and Summer pulling the biggest logg out of the bushes, scaring the horse into a mindless gallop. I don't want to think any further. I have fallen off the horse once on a canter when her foal took a shortcut and then stepped in front of us coming out of the bushes. Luckily I didn't get hurt.

After walking through the paddock, we were greeted  by this sweet little dog. Summer got to play with her and Victoria had to scratch her tummy:) The owners of this dog live in such a perfect spot. It's on a hilltop, with really nice view. And there is a swing hanging off the tree, just behind Victoria and when it's real spring, all the daffodills are blooming in the grass. True fairytale!

When my children were smaller I always used to choose a walk so that they had a playground at the end of it - something to motivate them. Now they are not so bothered about the playground, only when they actually see it. But this time Victoria requested to go on a certain playground that she remembered from when she was little. This little whole in the hedge is a secret way there:) And actually this particular path was one of my first long walks in England. Victoria was only about 5 and my sister was visiting me from back home and we decided to go for a walk and find my husband who was at work. So off we took. I can;t remember how long it took us to finally get to him, but he was too busy, only said hello to us and back we came:) That time we saw some horses in the distance with the blankets on and when we asked Victoria who they are, she thought they were elephants:)

To end this blog enterance, I will give you a little biology lesson :) The spring is coming and there will be flowers every where. One of the first to blossom is Hazel. But have you noticed Hazel's flowers?  Do you know where we get the hazelnuts form? And do you know that Hazel has female and male flowers? The yellow catkins that are so common that we don't even pay any attention to them are actually a cluster of male hazel flowers. And that little bud with red tufts is a female flower. That's where the actual nut starts growing.

Hope you enjoy the spring as much as I do. Stay clear of those horrible viruses that have entered to our house. Thanks for reading my blog. God bless!
